The Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education, Dr. Alhassan Sule has emphasized on the oneness of Nigerians irrespective of where they come from. The Chairman stated this when he received members of the Three C's Met Mediators,a Conflict and Mediation Institute based in Abuja with international Affiliations.

Speaking earlier, the founder and Principal Partner of the MET Institute ,Barrister Chijioke N. Ibeku declared that members of his institute were there to honour the Acting Executive Chairman and the Director of Physical Planning and Project Monitoring, Architect Mansur Sule and by extension , the entire management of the Board. He presented the purpose of their visit which is to inculcate in the learners with requisite skills from the earliest time , between seven and fifteen years so that they will know how to manage relationship across borders of culture, religion, tribe and race.

Another objective of their mission he maintained is to ensure that when the learners get to position of authority , they will know how to manage issues so that it doesn’t degenerate or snow ball in to conflict. He added to the fact that children were great resource already because without the children , there will be no resource to deliver their objectives.Hence, they look forward to using the platform for the learners benefits and leave an enduring legacy. Barrister Ibeku further added that his group aimed at ensuring that there is no generational gap in the practice of the issue and that is why they want to catch them young. He stated that the world is full of uncertainties. And there is limit to what money can do in the face of poignant issues.

He informed the forum that the institute trains adult participants to be mediators and they were in consultation with their sister firms,Three C's Met International Institute of Mediation, Negotiation,Counselling/ Conciliation for Peace Mediation/ Peace building. He thanked the Acting Chairman for the passion with which he related with their mission.

In his response, the Acting Chairman maintained that anything that will complement the activities of Education in FCT is always welcomed. Dr. Sule affirmed that it is not only giving the children the environment and opportunity to explore their potentials, but other things follow. This,he said include doctoring their psyche, inculcating in them the desired displine so that they can eschew religious bias, tribe and race and whatever the children acquire at this tender age stick to their minds. Hence,a good opportunity to reach out to the children, the Chairman explicated.

In her vote of thanks, the Director of Teachers' Professional Development in the Board,Mrs Jacqueline Amasike welcomed the Group heartily. She pointedly reminded them of how prolong the process of litigation takes in Nigeria and affirmed that it was a welcome development which has gained ground in Nigeria and internationally.. She thanked God for Alternative Dispute Resolution measure and the MET Institute for taking it up once again. She reiterated that what children are taught early changes their lives forever more than any other influence. Mrs Amasike averred that such practice when started amongst the children will help society at large. She drove home the point with an analogy that in village settings, people go to persons with proclivity for fairness and purveyors of truth to settle their disputes and these problems are resolved amicably and everybody leaves satisfied . She prayed for God's blessings for everyone.

Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of honours to the Acting Executive Chairman as the Diamond Patron of Community Peace Advocate by the MET Institute. Also honoured was the Director of Physical Planning and Project Monitoring, Architect Mansur Sule.He was given the title of Gold Patron of Community Peace and Advocate.
