FCTUBEB SCHOOLS GO DIGITAL WITH PLOVTECH

In line with global best practices and to promote innovation in the school processes through digitalization , the FCT Universal Basic Education Board in partnership with PLOV Technology organized a one Day workshop for the Board's management and Board’s Technical Team to reappraise the gains and successes of the digital transformation in the Junior Secondary Schools of the Six local Education Authorities in the Federal Capital Territory.

Plovtech Solutions is the Information Technology Company that manages the FCT UBEB Central Web Portal and the Online School Management System for the Board's Junior Secondary Schools.

In His address of welcome during the ocassion, the acting Chairman of FCT Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Alhassan Sule expressed his appreciation for a job well done and added that it was exemplary and a worth while initiative. He commended PLOVTECH team on the progress made so far in the digitalization program and how they have included the Board’s Technical team in the integration of the Technology.

Dr. Alhassan stated that FCT UBEB has been a pacesetter in the country in numerous ways through clinching of awards and excelling in competition within and outside FCT. He informed the forum that just recently , Junior Secondary School Gwagwalada became the overall best in Nigeria in Science Competition.

Dr. Alhassan emphasized on digitalization of the entire Board and her schools.  Different phases of presentations were carried out by the Technical Teams heads highlighting the importance, benefits and the necessicity for digitalization.One of the major achievements of the transformation is Quick access to the admission portal from every point and location by teachers,parents and students. The Team heads also affirmed that activities go on everyday in the platform.  In his exposition at the workshop, Mr. Puis Bakare, the Team leader of PLOVTECH traced back historically how FCTUBEB started the journey of Digitalization nine year ago. He revealed that the successes recorded have been tremendous as all Junior Secondary schools in the FCT are connected. He further disclosed that activities on schools, Individual site, FCTUBEB headquarter, Board’s management , news updates are being aired via UBEB portal https://www.fctubeb.gov.ng

He maintained that the admission processes and access to student’s Result are seamless for parents with the creation of the Platform. He stated that the interfaces are encrypted for security purposes to avoid intruders access and the whole system of the Platform protected against cyberattack. He also added that the Platform is an open ended process hence a developing one.  Various Interfaces in the Platform were highlighted and they include: Administration and Headquarter interface where results of monitoring teams are kept,the 8 dedicated native mobile Apps under the care of the FCT UBEB Headquarters.  The Principal Interface is used to approve records and performances in the schools and it uses the 8 dedicated native mobiles for their signatures.

Other interface such as e- testimonial allows the parents or students to access their testimonial anywhere, the E- record access card is student identification. There is access point portal, e-attendance, FCTUBEB info used for publishing activities on the platform. Others are: e-- learning platform, e-registry system, e- department and e- examination.  Trainings have also been carried out for the teachers on ways to disseminate information this past 8 years by the Technical Team.  Various stakeholders such as the PTA, LEA, Secretaries and their representatives, the Board's management and others contributed on these novel concepts and promised to support the vision to achieve the objectives of the programme.  There was questions and answer sessions.

Highpoint of the programme was the presentation of awards to 4 pioneer members committee who are now in other Secretariat, Department and Agencies (SDA) of the FCT.
