FCT UBE PARTNERS WITH NGO, ILLMI CHILDREN FUND

The FCT Universal Basic Education Board in partnership with ILLMI Children Fund has trained and mentored  30 of the Board's teachers on classroom management and other activities in their own area to scale up their productivity.

The ILLMI Children Fund is an Abuja based NGO and they are into Training ,Advocacy, Research and Mentorship( TARM). The three day training was conducted in the Territory.  In his brief on the activity of the NGO in relationship with the Board, Mr. Emmanuel Anthony,Deputy Director,NGO and Bilateral Relations affirmed that the ILLMI Children Fund not only trained the teachers but offered  the teachers transport support to the training venue.He added that the NGO exhibited deep passion and professionalism in their undertaking and a such stated that further collaboration should be encouraged based on their viability.

In her remark, the Founder and  Executive Director of ILLMI Children Fund, Hajia Maryam Augie- Abdulmunin stated that   She and her group are rendering this support for the sake of the children and the country. She pointed out that the children are the  products of the teachers and they have realized  that efforts are channelled towards children more than the teachers and the exposition will give the teachers better understanding of what they do.

In his response, the Acting Executive  Chairman of the Board,Dr. Alhassan Sule appreciated the Founder for her gesture.He maintained that it is only quality education that guarantees the future and  added that the solution to some of the challenges in the country can only be ameliorated through the class room by doctoring the learners characters and impacting the right knowledge so that the children can become useful to themselves and the country at large.  Education for All is the responsibility of All and Basic Education is the foundation and when the foundation is strong ,the body will stand, the Chairman explicated.

In her vote of thanks,the Director ,Junior Secondary School Department in the Board,Hajia Ramatu Nusa,stated that Government can not fund Education alone and that is why NGOs are encouraged to come in. She therefore, entreated the NGO for more collaboration.  Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of Commendation letter on behalf of Basic Education to the Founder and Executive Director of the ILLMI Children Fund.
