Boost for Education: JICA Unveils Plans for Smart Science & Tech Facility in FCT-UBEB Schools

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has announced plans to establish a smart facility in the Federal Capital Territory to strengthen science and technology education.

During a recent courtesy visit to the Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT-UBEB), JICA revealed that the project will involve the construction of fully equipped laboratories designed to train teachers in science and technology.

As part of the visit, JICA officials engaged the board in an interactive session to assess the level of preparedness and to outline the roles expected of the FCT in the smooth implementation of the initiative.

In his response, the Acting Executive Chairman of FCT-UBEB, Dr. Alhassan Sule, welcomed the development and pledged the board’s full support. He assured JICA that the intervention would be sustained through the proper deployment of teachers, achieving training objectives, and adhering to a strong maintenance culture.

Dr. Sule further emphasized that the project would go a long way in advancing the quality of education in the FCT, equipping teachers with the skills needed to prepare students for a technology-driven future.

The visit marks a significant milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s education sector through global partnership and innovation.
